Church — Spiritual Impartation Or Powerless Sermons?

Bible interpretation without spiritual impartation is a negation of Scripture.  Sermons,  without the active working of the living God, lack the life-transforming power they claim to proclaim.

Our culture desperately needs the transforming impartation of spiritual power, not mere Bible based stories, poems, illustrations, and talking points.  Can the 21st Century Church rise to the challenge and deliver life-changing power?  Only by stepping out of the box of making people passive spectators of sleepy sermons and instead giving people power to actively influence the outcome of church meetings.

When people are given the power and authority to influence meetings they rise to the occasion and share testimonies, Scriptures, problems, words of encouragement, prayer requests, prayers, songs, and more — straight from the heart.  Spiritual life comes pouring out imparting peace, joy, love, faith, and commitment to all present.

So why do churches continue to cling to controlling church meetings through one man messages?  Perhaps it’s time to let the Holy Spirit, Himself, direct church meetings by speaking through anyone present, rather than being limited to professional clergy.

What do we have to lose by trying Spirit-controlled meetings?

Come see a participatory, Spirit-led church meeting on Sundays at 10:45 am. at The Salvation Army Berry Street, 225 Berry St., Nashville, 37207/.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. I have written two books: Mindrobics: How To Be Happy For The Rest Of Your Life and Your Sperm Won--Experiencing Your Value As A Championship Human Being. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I lead a non-traditional church in Nashville based on open participation and Spirit-led sharing. We long to see the power and passion of the early church come to life in our time.
