The greatest country in the world not a democracy. It is a kingdom with a benevolent ruler.
Yet, the greatest nation in the world is a great melting pot. It’s citizens are originally from various countries all over the planet — from “every kindred and every tribe.” However, none of its citizens are naturalized. They are all born into this kingdom, supernaturally, by a new birth.
The greatest country in the world is “a holy nation, a royal priesthood,” yet it is not defined by physical boundaries. It is transcendent — “in the world, but not of the world.”
Jesus Christ spoke often about the greatest country in the world. He commanded His disciples to make this country their first priority in life. He said: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (right living).”
The kingdom of God must be sought because its authority is resisted by human nature. Its rules are more easily disobeyed than obeyed. The kingdom of God is contrary to the political systems that rule planet earth. Passionate and obedient loyalty to the greatest country in the world sets a person at odds with the nations of the world — making her/him a “fool for Christ.”
The kingdom of God has no military, no troops that use violence; yet it is militantly engaged in spiritual warfare. To quote Paul of Tarsus: “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal (physical) but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” That is because the kingdom of God has no geography to defend as illustrated by this quotation from Jesus: “The kingdom of God is within you.”
I love the kingdom of God and I love the great diversity of my fellow citizens in this greatest nation on earth who have been “translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s own dear Son.”
When you search the Scriptures you discover that the only nation worthy of using the phrase “God and country” — the only nation that truly and consistently represents God — is the supernatural and invisible kingdom of God.
