Can A Church Be Full Of The Glory Of God?

A popular worship song says: “The splendor of the King; clothed in majesty . . .” It is great to sing about God’s splendor, but how do we bring it forth?

There is a simple, but powerful answer to this question. We open our hearts to God and do what He tells us.

A great orchestra, full of great and talented musicians, can be in place and ready to perform; but if the musicians ignore the conductor and just sit and wait, there will be silence. If they decide to do their own thing there will be chaos. Neither option will bring forth the splendor of the symphony.

A gathered church is a great orchestra full of gifted men and women. God, our Conductor, taps His stand and begins to move His baton, giving instructions to each member.  (This is sometimes called organic church, simple church, and/or house church.)

As each member responds to and obeys the leadings of the Holy Spirit, the splendor of Christ’s body shines forth as one shares a song, another a word of knowledge, another a testimony, another a prayer, another a Bible verse, another a revelation. Each person’s heart-felt expression blends with the others’ contributions, bringing forth a glorious and holy Presence. Suddenly, standing on holy ground, a sense of indescribable awe is among them.

This is happening each week at The Salvation Army Berry Street as a group of spiritually hungry people gather and according to I Corinthians 14:26, seek to hear and openly obey the leading of our Director, Jesus Christ.

Come, taste and see what God is doing. Every Sunday morning at 10:45am/225 Berry St./Nashville/37207.  Experience the glory of God!

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I co-lead a non-traditional expression of the body of Christ in Nashville based on open participation and Spirit-led sharing. We long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia" that is available in Kindle & paperback @ http://amzn.to/2nCr5dP
