Christ is not just comfort in a crisis, but a wake-up call crying out in your complacency!

Christ is not just comfort in a crisis, but a wake-up call crying out in your complacency!

Every now and then I think about the by and by, but I prefer to focus on the here and now.  We can hear God here in the present; we don’t have to wait for tomorrow.  (After all, today is yesterday’s tomorrow.)  “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”

“Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

All roads lead to roam . . . That’s because there is a deep emptiness in the human heart that creates a longing to roam for home — the place of ongoing personal encounter with and submission to the living God as He molds us into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I co-lead a non-traditional expression of the body of Christ in Nashville based on open participation and Spirit-led sharing. We long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia" that is available in Kindle & paperback @

  1. Unfortunately this complacency is a longstanding feature of the church….over two thousand years running. When people saw Jesus they thought he must be John the Baptist or Elijah come back to life because of the mighty works that showed forth themselves in him. He told his disciples to go and heal all they found in the way and tell them the kingdom of God is near; the deliverance they just experience is a sample of things to come. In other places he said….that you may know that God forgives sins, I tell this man rise up from your bed of afflictions and be made whole. The kingdom of God is not just in word but power but we have changed the complexion of the work Jesus assigned for us to bring to the world and made it according to our understanding. This is exactly what ended Saul’s kingdom and exactly why the clergy cannot enter into the kingdom of power that is the ministry of Jesus, the power of God.

They (the clergy) cross land and sea to make one convert twice the child of hell as they are. This warning that Jesus gave to the leaders of the church saying that when they do not enter into the kingdom of God, or (when they fail to live up to type of ministry that he an his 12 trained disciples demonstrated and then passed along to them to continue doing), is that they would instead produce disciples that would be twice the child of hell as they for not obeying him. Today you look across the globe and what you see is a stunning fulfillment of that warning. For the better part of the last 1000 years the church has produced some of fiercest most outspoken Atheists in history. Like Darwin, they all come from within the church, and are twice as smart, know the bible better than most of the clergy, and are exceeding vexed and bitter because of what they see as gross incompetence in them.

Over the last several decades they have torn prayer and any spiritual expressions from out of the schools and public life of America so that even the nativity is a pariah in towns of America, produced the greatest killing fields in abortion than all the wars fought by humanity from the dawn of his inception, created doctrines of evolution that have swallow the world apostasy and chased Christianity from the public forums around the globe. Almost any of the worlds major religions are accepted and respected at face value, but Christianity is derided at every corner and every opportunity. The offspring of our disobedience is as the chicken coming home to roost unfortunately.
