A Different Worship Leader Every Sunday

At The Salvation Army Berry Street we have a different worship leader every week.  Over the past 5 1/2 years we have had about 50 different people/groups lead worship for us.  Why?

1) It keeps one person from being exalted above the rest and helps us see everyone as equal.
2) It shows that God wants to use ordinary people.
3) It encourages and releases spontaneous, heart-felt worship.
4) It gives more people an opportunity to use their gifting.
5) It brings a lot of people to Berry Street who otherwise might not come.
6) It releases different styles of worship and demonstrates the diversity and creativity of the body of Christ.
7) It causes us to rely more on the Holy Spirit instead of a special human being.

Come see for yourself on Sundays at 10:45 am., 225 Berry St., Nashville, Tennessee 37207.

Thank you to all the many people who have led worship for us!  Here’s a picture of Root Road, a group of brothers who have led worship for us several times.  If you would like to lead worship for us one Sunday, e-mail me at stsimms@live.com.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I co-lead a non-traditional expression of the body of Christ in Nashville based on open participation and Spirit-led sharing. We long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia" that is available in Kindle & paperback @ http://amzn.to/2nCr5dP

It is truly an encouraging Spirit led experience at Berry Street Worship Center. Our pastors, Steve and Ernie Simms, do everything within their power to see that the Spirit has free flow in each service. Although they are very much involved in the worship themselves, they are careful to keep their Spiritual eyes and ears open and are quick to make sure everything is done in decency and order according to the Word of God. We have only attended Berry Street for a little over a year, but through their leadership I have grown more in this one year than the last 15 years elsewhere. I do not write this to exalt them (they would be the first ones to refuse that exaltation if that were the case), but to give all the Glory to God. Praise His Name forever! Come join us one Sunday and see what God is doing at Berry Street.
