Does Church Need The Energizer Bunny (Or The Risen Christ)?

–I’m Energized From Within
If the Energizer Bunny
Was living in my heart,
It could not compare
To the power & presence
Of the resurrected Christ
Living in there!

People nowadays are not energized by talk and tradition (or even by gimmicks). Instead, they need to see first hand demonstrations of the real presence of the living, resurrected Jesus Christ.

So why do churches try almost anything and everything else to reach people?  They try:
* Back To Church Sunday
* Trendy themes
* Andy Griffith Show Sunday School Lessons
* Positive thinking sermons
* Superbowl Parties
* Big name speakers,
* Laser lights, etc.

church gimmicks
So why not try the spiritual method presented in 1 Corinthians 14:26? That biblical method allows the living Jesus to manifest Himself through anybody present in the room. Rather than focusing all the attention on only one featured speaker; Spirit-led, participatory church gives God the freedom to use whosoever He pleases in a meeting. And the amazing thing is that it all comes together in beautiful harmony, clearly demonstrating the invisible Christ is orchestrating the meeting.

Come see the Spirit working more powerfully through ordinary people @ The Salvation Army Berry Street, 225 Berry St., Nashville, TN 37207 on Sunday mornings at 10:45.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I co-lead a non-traditional expression of the body of Christ in Nashville based on open participation and Spirit-led sharing. We long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia" that is available in Kindle & paperback @ http://amzn.to/2nCr5dP
