Getting in tune with the Spirit is like learning to balloon

Getting in Tune With the Spirit is Like Learning to Balloon
A group can’t learn ballooning
By listening to a lecture on hot air.
They need to be untethered
And go careening in the clouds,
Controlled by the currents of the wind.

A church can’t learn the gifts of the Spirit
By listening to a lecture on the Bible.
They need to be unprogrammed
And go soaring in God’s presence
Controlled by the wind of the Spirit.

“The wind blows wherever it pleases.
You hear its sound, but you cannot tell
Where it comes from or where it is going.
So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
–Jesus (John 3:8)
A world full of hate needs love!
Love is not learned by lecture,
But by listening to ordinary people.
In ekklesia, men and women listen
To everyday people sharing their heart,
And discover love for others,
They never knew they could love!

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I co-lead a non-traditional expression of the body of Christ in Nashville based on open participation and Spirit-led sharing. We long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia" that is available in Kindle & paperback @ http://amzn.to/2nCr5dP
